Fulfilling a desire to work in the entertainment business, Susan MacNicol completed her B.A. degree in Chicago, then moved to Los Angeles and started her career in the film industry at Columbia Pictures, where she was tasked with marketing major Hollywood hits such as Terminator 2 and City Slickers. Her career then progressed to Television and she managed marketing for Sony Pictures Television with hits such as Seinfeld, Married with Children and Designing Women. Later, as Director of Marketing and PR at Samuel Goldwyn Studios, she established a new TV marketing department and supported the national marketing of The American Gladiators. An offer to work in Europe and the Middle East in the Satellite TV industry brought Susan to a marketing role based in Rome, Italy with frequent trips to Dubai. Later roles back in the U.S. included marketing and sales for Pay TV Provider STARZ Encore and an Internet services company, HSA, founded by Microsoft pioneer Paul Allen. In 2001, she opened her marketing firm and has completed both marketing and recruiting projects for industry leaders such as Johnson & Johnson, OfficeMax, Sears, Experian and Nielsen, along with small businesses and non-profits.

Extensive experience in several industries and companies has provided Susan with extensive real-world knowledge to share with audiences about the importance of marketing and branding to build sales, and how to differentiate between the two. At age 9, Susan’s life unexpectedly changed when her parents moved the family to Damascus, Syria for her Father’s career and an opportunity to meet her extended family members. She spent the next 18 months experiencing life in a third world country, learning Arabic, and gaining a first-hand view of life in the Middle East without all the comforts of her previous American Childhood. This experience changed her worldview and had a lasting impact on her life. Susan also overcame many obstacles to excel in theatre programs during high school, obtain a college scholarship based on academics and theatrical performance, and ultimately follow her dreams to work in the film industry in Los Angeles, CA. Her climb up the corporate ladder in the highly-competitive entertainment industry, along with a marketing role based in Rome, Italy involving trips to Dubai and Damascus provide compelling stories about women succeeding in business, both domestically and internationally.
